ModJaw 4D is the latest digital scanner system in dentistry which allows the exact movements of your jaw to be digitised, recorded and viewed in real time.
This is achieved through a very sophisticated optical camera and built-in sensors.
If you have a worn dentition and would like to address any functional or cosmetic concerns regarding the maintenance or restoration of the health and appearance of your smile, this technology would be of paramount value to you.
Using this technology, your restorative treatment:
- Will more predictable
- Time could be shortened
- Goals will be best met as any restorations are tailor designed to best fit the physiologic environment of your mouth
At Gold Coast Dental Implants & Aesthetics, we are so pleased to have installed the first Modjaw 4D system in Australia. We are currently using it during full mouth rehabilitation and complete smile makeover treatments conducted by Dr Dinos Kountouras.
You can view our ModJaw 4D equipment in Dr Dinos Kountouras’s Full Mouth Rehabilitation patient video on our YouTube channel.
How does ModJaw work?
By using a sophisticated optical camera and sensors, all your facial information and jaw movements can be optically scanned and studied inside a digital environment.
The sensors are placed in certain locations around your face and also emit no radiation.
Moreover, this is not an articulator. It is a digital system that scans and records the real movements of your jaw.
It enables you to view your jaw movements on a computer screen next to you. This helps to promote a discussion between you and your dentist while you perform functional movements such as:
If you can see a visual representation of your jaw movements, you may be able to best understand how these movements may affect your daily activities or oral health. Furthermore, any issues which may be causing you pain, discomfort or contribute to the tooth wear of your teeth could be identified and addressed.
With just a few clicks, all the digital files obtained from your actual jaw movements can be shared between a team of dental experts so that they can determine the best course of action.
What is a full mouth rehabilitation?
A full mouth rehabilitation is a comprehensive treatment that is required when a large number of teeth are:
- Severely worn
- Missing due to dental decay
- Missing due to gum disease or after many years of wear and tear from grinding or clenching of the teeth
The purpose of a full mouth rehabilitation is to protect and restore the health and physiologic function of your teeth. At the same time, a full mouth rehabilitation can also improve the appearance of your teeth and smile.
What are the benefits of ModJaw 4D technology in a full mouth rehabilitation?
ModJaw 4D technology is revolutionising how we conduct a full mouth rehabilitation treatment in Australia.
Thanks to the ModJaw 4d technology, we can utilise the natural and real movements of your jaw to design your custom dental restoration.
This way, we can pre-visualise and pre-evaluate the actual occlusal contacts. Furthermore, we can also identify forces that the restorations will be exposed to inside the mouth.
This can be done before we ever insert them into the patient.
Our restorations are optimally custom designed and manufactured using the real jaw movement of the jaw as a guide. As a result, any restoration will predictably best fit to the patient’s dynamic oral environment.
Furthermore, the need for an intra oral adjustment is minimised and the functional and aesthetic demands of your case are addressed.
Dr Dinos Kountouras explains. “One of the biggest challenges in full mouth rehabilitation, in my opinion, is to identify, restore and maintain long term a healthy maxilla / mandible occlusal relationship. Modjaw 4D helps to get it right.”
