When we initially saw Robyn, she had very limited oral function with only two teeth remaining in the upper jaw, and unfortunately, was unable to wear a denture.

Due to the loss of dentition, her bite had ‘collapsed’, meaning that her lower teeth we now biting into the upper palate.

Robyn’s definitive treatment recommendation was ‘All-on-6’ full arch rehabilitation.

The first phase of treatment involved removing the remaining two teeth and surgically placing six dental implants in the upper jaw. Robyn preferred to have this treatment completed under general anesthesia.

The next day, Robyn visited the clinic to have her hybrid bridgework delivered.

The hybrid bridge was to stay in place for the next three months. This period allows time for the implants to heal and integrate into the jawbone.

The hybrid phase serves two purposes. Firstly, it helps to restore immediate function. Secondly, it allows Robyn to test out her ‘new’ smile as an indication of the design for the final bridgework.

After three months, the hybrid bridgework was converted to PMMA provisional restorations. This allowed us to perform remodelling of the soft tissues.

The PMMA provisionals were left in place for two weeks to ensure that a seamless relationship could be developed between the soft tissues and the prosthesis. This was achieved by applying pressure to create sculpted gingival margins that would be moulded perfectly to match the final bridgework.

The final prosthesis was delivered.

Zirconia bridge with a reinforced metal framework on six dental implants (All-on-6), was the final restorative outcome for Robyn.

Robyn received a smile that perfectly complemented her natural facial features. By adding a little length to the upper teeth, we were able to help create a more youthful appearance to her smile.
